‘Capacity Building and Establishment of a Research Consortium Project
on Nanomaterials for Clean Energy Technologies’
Postgraduate Research Studentships
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for Postgraduate Research Studentships to work at the University of Jaffna under general theme of Nanomaterials for Clean Energy Technologies.
Selected candidates should register and work full time for a MPhil degree at the university, synthesize and characterize materials for nanostructured solar cells, prepare progress reports and research publications and assist the research supervisors in all activities related to the project.
Required Qualifications and experience:
- BSc Honours degree in Chemistry / Physics / Technology
- BSc degree in Engineering
- BSc General degree with Physics / Chemistry as a subject and at least one year of proven research / professional experience in physical science / technology stream
- Any other equivalent qualifications acceptable to the Board of Study in Physical Sciences of Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Jaffna.
Preference may be given to those who have proven research experience in the field of Nanomaterials and / or Solar cells.
Candidates who are awaiting the results of the final special degree examinations in Physics / Chemistry with current GPA not less than 3.00 may also apply provided they can submit a certificate / letter from the Registrar certifying the current GPA.
Age:
Below 35 years of age by the closing date of the application.
Remuneration:
Rs.50,000/- per month (fixed)
Period of appointment would be 24 months. On satisfactory performance of the candidates, a scholarship to work in the laboratories of Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, Norway for up to one year will be provided and MPhil registration may be upgraded to PhD.

Shortlisted applicants will be called for interview in the fourth week of April 2018.
