VACANCIES FOR THE POST OF SENIOR PROFESSOR/PROFESSOR
  
 

University of Jaffna will entertain applications from qualified persons for the under mentioned posts up to 20 April 2007:

Senior Professor/Professor in Geography/History/Organic Chemistry  

Post                                           Salary scale  

Senior Professor                         Rs.57, 755 – 12x900 – 68,555/-p.m        

Professor                                    Rs.50, 905 – 13x850 – 61,955/-p.m

 
 

Note: In addition to the above salary, the following allowances will also be paid:

i. An academic allowance equivalent to 25% of the basic salary
ii. Cost of living allowance of Rs.1,375/-p.m

 
 

Statutory benefits:

  1. Sabbatical leave entitlement for the holders of the Post of Senior Lecturer Gr.II and above.
  2. Membership in Universities Provident Fund and Pension Scheme in the University system.
  3. Gratuity payments Employees’ Trust Fund benefits.
  4. Free Medical Services.

Applications for the post of Senior Professor should be accompanied by the following in accordance with the University Grants Commission circular No.838 dated 26.01.2004:

  1. The Curriculum Vitae
  2. A self assessment, as per the marking scheme, the applicants contribution to the following areas after the applicant became a Professor:
    • Teaching and academic development
    • Research and creative works
    • Dissemination of knowledge and University and National Development.
  
 

Applications for the post of Professor should be accompanied by the following in accordance with the University Grants Commission circular No.869 dated 30.11.2005:
  1. The Curriculum Vitae
  2. A self assessment, as per the marking scheme of applicants whole career specifying contributions to:
    • Teaching and academic development
    • Research and creative works
    • Dissemination of knowledge
    • University & National Development
  3. Three copies of the publications, research papers and other relevant documents
  4. Title of five outstanding research papers/publications

 
 

Applications and other documents shall be sent to the Vice-Chancellor with a covering letter. Applications for the other posts shall be sent to the Senior Assistant Registrar (Establishments).

Application forms and other details may be obtained from the office of the Senior Assistant Registrar/ Establishments,
University of Jaffna, Sri-Lanka, either in person or by post, on a payment of Rs.100/- per form.

Those who wish to obtain application forms by post are requested to send a Money Order/Postal Order drawn in favour of the Bursar, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, together with a self –addressed stamped envelope 23x10 c.m. in size.

Those who wish to apply for more than one post should make separate applications.

Applicants from the University System/Government Departments/Corporations and Statutory Board should channel their applications through the Head of the respective Institutions.

Applications received after the closing date will be rejected without intimation. Only those applicants who possess the qualifications and experience for consideration will be called for an interview.
