Product launching ceremony of “Bael syrup incorporated drinking yoghurt”

The first time in the history of University of Jaffna a product developed by staff and student of Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, was licensed to an Industry known Mullai Milk Processing Industry for commercialization. A new drinking yoghurt incorporated with Bael syrup was invented by lecturers of Dept of Animal Science, Mr.S.Anandkumar, Dr.(Mrs). S. Piratheepan, Mrs.S.Thirucchenthuran and Mr.S.Sivatharshan, student, specialized in Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture. This yoghurt was launched for commercialization through University Business Linkage, University of Jaffna at Kailasapathy auditorium on 12th October 2022 in the presence of Vice chancellor, Prof S.Srisatkunarajah, Dean Faculty of Agriculture Dr.S.Vasantharuba, Director UBL, Prof T. Eswaramohan and Mr.S.Thavaseelan Chairman Mullai Milk Processing Industry. This research project was also assisted by Prof.D.K.Dinesh D.Jeyasena and Dr.Deshani mudanayake from University of Uwa Wellassa. Even though the medicinal value of bael fruit is very well known since ancient, this fruit is still underutilized because of the difficulties in accessing it by all kind of people in the country. Research team of Department of Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna has provided a good solution to these problems by incorporating bael fruit syrup into the most delicious milk product drinking yoghurt. Through this product the medicinal value of bael fruit is going to be reached to all the people in the country.
