Notice to students who have no access to Smartphones
As a result of COVID-19 pandemic, the Universities are compelled to switch their teaching-learning process from face-to-face mode to online mode which requires the use of electronic devices, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc. However, it has been observed that a number of students do not possess such devices with financial difficulties to purchase them and hence they are unable to follow the lectures delivered through online mode.
Understanding the financial difficulties of the students to purchase these devices, Prof. Siva Sivananthan, Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois, Chicago, USA and CEO of the Sivananthan Laboratories Inc., USA has donated smartphones to be distributed among the needy students of the University of Jaffna for online learning.
As such, any undergraduate of the University of Jaffna who does not have access to a smartphone is hereby requested to contact the respective Dean of the Faculty or Head of the Academic Unit on or before 06.06.2020 to consider lending a smartphone based on the information submitted in support of the request.

கொரோனா (கோவிட் 19) பெருந் தொற்று நோய்த் தாக்கத்தின் காரணமாக அனைத்துப் பல்கலைக்கழகங்களும் நேரடிக் கற்றல் – கற்பித்தல் செயற்பாடுகளில் இருந்து மாற்றாக மடிக்கணினி (லப்ரொப்), பலகைக்கணினி (ரப்லெற்), திறன்பேசி (ஸ்மாட் போன் ) என்பன தேவைப்படும் இணைய வழி நிகழ்நிலைக் கற்றல் – கற்பித்தல் செயற்பாடுகளுக்கு நகர வேண்டிய நிலைக்குக் தள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஆயினும், இக் கருவி ஒன்றைத் தற்போது கொண்டிராத, அத்துடன் அதனை விலைக்கு வாங்கும் வசதியற்ற – நிதி நெருக்கடியுள்ள மாணவர்கள் நிகழ்நிலை முறையில் நடாத்தப்படும் விரிவுரைகளைக் தொடர முடியாத நிலையில் உள்ளனர்.
எனவே, மாணவர்கள் எதிர்கொள்ளும் நிதி நெருக்கடிகளைக் கவனத்திற் கொண்டு, ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவின் சிக்காக்கோ – இலினோயிஸ் பல்கலைக்கழகத்தின் புகழ்பூத்த பேராசிரியரும், சிவானந்தன் ஆய்வு மையத்தின் ஸ்தாபகரும், தலைவருமான சிவா.சிவானந்தன் அவர்கள் சிமார்ட் கைத்தொலைபேசிகளை அன்பளிப்பாக வழங்கியுள்ளார்.
அகவே, சிமார்ட் தொலைபேசி வசதிகளைக் கொண்டிராத மாணவர் எவரேனும், திறன் பேசி ஒன்றை இரவலாகப் பெற்றுக் கொள்வதற்காகக் தத்தமது பீடாதிபதிகள் அல்லது துறைத் தலைவர்களுடன் எதிர்வரும் 06.06.2020 ம் திகதிக்கு முன்னர் தொடர்பு கொண்டு, அவர்களின் பரிசீலனைக்காக உரிய தகவல்களுடன் கோரிக்கைகளை முன்வைக்குமாறு வேண்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.

ස්මාර්ට්‌ ජගම දුරකථනය වෙත පිවිසිය නොහැකි සිසුන්‌ සඳහා වන දැනුම්දීමකය
(Covid-19) වසංගතයේ ප්‍රතිඵලයක්‌ ලෙස, විශ්ව විද්‍යාලවලට ඔවුන්ගේ ඉගැන්වීම්‌ ඉගෙනුම්‌ ක්‍රියාවලිය පන්ති කාමරවල පචත්වනු ලබන දේශන (මුහුණට මුහුණ) ක්‍රමය සිට අන්තර්ජාල ක්‍රමයට මාරු කිරීමට සිදුවී ඇත. ඒ සඳහා ස්මාර්ට්‌ ෆෝන්‌, ටැබ්ලට්‌, ලැප්ටොප්‌ වැනි ඉලෙක්ට්‍රොනික උපකරණ භාවිතා කිරීම අවශ්‍ය වේ. කෙසේ වෙතත්‌, සිසුන්‌ කිහිප දෙනෙකුට පවතින මූල්‍යමය දුෂ්කරතා මත එවැනි උපකරණ මිලදී ගැනීමට අවස්ථාව නොමැති බවත්‌, එබැවින්‌ ඔවුන්ට අන්තර්ජාල ක්‍රමය හරහා පවත්වන දේශන සඳහා සහභාගි වීමට නොහැකි බවත්‌ නිර්ක්ෂණය වී තිබේ.
මෙම උපකරණ මිලදී ගැනීම සඳහා සිසුන්ගේ මූල්‍ය දුෂ්කරතා අවබෝධ කර ගනිමින්‌ ඇමරිකා එක්සත්‌ ජනපදයේ චිකාගෝ හි ඉලිනොයිස්‌ විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ කීරතිමත්‌ මහාචාර්ය සහ ඇමරිකා එක්සත්‌ ජනපදයේ සිවානන්තන්‌ රසායනාගාර සමාගමේ ප්‍රධාන
විධායක නිලධාරී මහාචාර්ය සිවා. සිවානන්තන්‌ විසින්‌ යාපනය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලයේ අවශ්‍යතා ඇති සිසුන්‌ අතර අන්තර්ජාල ඉගෙනීම සඳහා බෙදා හැරීම සඳහා ස්මාර්ට්‌ දුරකථන පරිත්‍යාග කර ඇත.
එබැවින්‌, ස්මාර්ට්‌ දුරකථන පහසුකමක්‌ නොමැති ඕනෑම සිසුවෙකුට ස්මාර්ට්‌ දුරකථනයක්‌ ආපසු භාර දීමේ පදනම්‌ මත ලබා ගැනීම සඳහා 2020.06.06 වන දින හෝ ඊට පෙර සිය පීඨාධිපති හෝ අධ්‍යනාංශ ප්‍රධානීව සම්බන්ධ කර ගැනීමටත්‌, ඔවුන්ගේ සමාලෝචනය සඳහා සුදුසු තොරතුරු සහිතව ඉල්ලීම්‌ කරන ලෙසත්‌ ඉල්ලා සිටී.
