Survey of online leaning in Higher Education in Sri Lanka

Last year, a rapid assessment was conducted on online learning in Higher education to understand impact of the corona virus disease (Covid-19) based upon the request of the Presidential taskforce on Sri Lanka’s Education Affairs. Due to the long closure of Higher Education institutions, online e –classes are still continuing as an alternative teaching and learning Method in the Higher Education system in Sri Lanka with many Challenges. Therefore University Grants Commission has decided to conduct an follow up surveys on online learning in Higher education, similar to last year. The above survey will use the same online platform called Survey Share with the support of Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Specific objectives of the follow-up survey are;

  • (i) to assess the current utilization of online learning of students in universities and higher education, particularly under COVID -19
  • (ii) to understand the challenges faced by University administrations, their faculty members, and students in online learning
  • to help define programme opportunities for online learning in Sri Lanka.

Therefore, It was decided to conduct Three separate online surveys to the following three groups of respondents(Students, Faculty/Administration) and the three survey access links addressed to the above three separate groups are given below in order to participate in the Survey.

The Final report on the above survey will be made available and the respective universities can use it as a reference for future development of online higher Education. Therefore, All the Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments/Administrative and Academic units/branches/center are kindly requested to take appropriate action to enable the above respondents, to participate at the above survey.
