University of Jaffna will entertain applications from the qualified persons for the under mentioned posts.

FACULTY OF ARTS

  • Senior Professor/ Professor of Geography / Political Science / Sociology / Philosophy / Education / Fine Arts / Tamil / Linguistics / Economics / History
  • Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) in Translation Studies / Economics / Home Economics / Education / Drama & Theatre Arts / Fine Arts / Law / History / English Language Teaching / Christian Civilization / Art & Design (Painting) / Art & Design (Sculpture) / Information Technology*
    1. For the positions in Translation Studies
      Preference will be given to those who can able to teach through both Tamil and Sinhala mediums
    2. For the positions in Economics
      Preference will be given to those who have knowledge in Econometrics / Gender Economics / Rural and Urban Economics / Land and Real Estate Economics
    3. For the positions in Education
      Preference will be given to those who have relevant special degree with major component of Physical Sciences / Social Sciences
    4. For the positions in Drama & Theatre Arts
      Preference will be given to those who have additional qualifications and / or professional knowledge and practice in Theatre Music / Folk Theatre / Theatre set costume design
    5. For the positions in Art and Design (Painting)
      Preference will be given to those who have obtained 50% – 60% of total credit in the fields of Drawing and Painting from the Honours degree program
    6. For the positions in Art and Design (Sculpture)
      Preference will be given to those who have obtained 50% – 60% of total credit in the fields of Drawing and Sculpture from the Honours degree program

* Those who wish to apply for Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) attached to the IT Unit should have specialization in Information Technology/Computing

  • Instructor Grade III in Music (Vocal/Violin/Veena) / Dance / Art & Design (Painting/Sculpture) / Drama & Theatre Arts
    1. For the position in Drama & Theatre Arts
      Preference will be given to those who have additional qualifications and / or professional knowledge and practice in Theatre Music / Folk Theatre / Theatre Management
    2. For the position in Art and Design (Painting)
      Preference will be given to those who have obtained 50% – 60% of total credit in the fields of Drawing and Painting from the Honours degree program
    3. For the position in Art and Design (Sculpture)
      Preference will be given to those who have obtained 50% – 60% of total credit in the fields of Drawing and Sculpture from the Honours degree program
  • Instructor in Computer Technology Grade II

Note :

* Practical tests will be conducted for the positions in Music, Dance, Art and Design and Drama & Theatre Arts

* Aptitude test will be conducted for the position in Instructor in Computer Technology Grade II

In addition to the above salary,

The following allowances will be paid as the percentage of the basic salary to the academic staff :

  • Academic allowance

Senior Professor                     – 167%
Professor                                  – 162%
Senior Lecturer Gr.I/Gr.II    – 151%
Lecturer (Unconfirmed)        – 131%
Lecturer (Probationary)         – 115%

  • Research allowance – 35% (Payable to the Academic Staff based on the research activity)
  • Additional monthly allowance – 20%
  • Monthly Compensative Allowance – 45% (Only for academic support staff)
  • Cost of living allowance of Rs.7,800/-p.m.

Applicants are requested to send the prescribed application form downloaded from the University website with the paid Bank Slip for the deposit of a sum of Rs.100/- credited to any branch of the Peoples Bank in favour of University of Jaffna Collection Account Number : 970000090000387 of Bursar, University of Jaffna.

The candidates who apply for more than one post should submit separate application along with separate Bank slip. The post applied for should be marked on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Perfected applications and self evaluation with supportive documents for the Post of Senior Professor/Professor shall be sent to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka as required by the University Grants Commission Circulars Nos. 5/2015, 5/2015(i) (for Senior Professor), University Grants Commission Circulars Nos.916, 4/2014 and Establishments Circular No. 4/2010 (for Professor), (see http://www.jfn.ac.lk/index.php/circular/) with a covering letter.

Perfected applications for the other posts shall be sent to the Deputy Registrar/Academic Establishments, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka under registered post with the photocopies of statement of the Degrees and Service certificates. Submission of Applications will not be entertained in person.

Applicants from the University System/Government Departments /Corporations and Statutory Board should channel their applications through the Head of respective Institutions, but may send an advance copy in the first instance. However, no such applicant will be considered for interview, if the application channeled through the Head of the Department is not received.

Application and referees reports should be in the relevant format. Illegible and Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be rejected without intimation. Only short- listed applicants will be called for an interview.
