International Coastal Cleanup Programme in Jaffna District

The students and staff members of the University of Jaffna participated in the International Coastal Cleanup Programme on 21 September 2015. The programme was organized by the Marine Environment Protection Authority (MEPA) and District Secretariat, Jaffna with an objective to heighten the public awareness and encourage them to keep the sea free of debris as ocean trash has A total of 122 students and 27 staff members from the Faculties of Medicine, Science, Arts and Management Studies & Commerce of the University of Jaffna volunteered to clean up the coastal areas of Navanthurai North, Fort, Colombuthurai East, Pasaiyoor East, Reclamation East, Small Bazaar and Charty.  It was coordinated by Prof. (Mrs.) M. Senthilnanthanan, Department of Chemistry, University of Jaffna.
