A high-level delegation from France met with the Vice-Chancellor of the UoJ

A high-level delegation from France met with the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka, on the 28th of March 2025 to discuss potential academic collaborations, including a future Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The discussions focused on student and faculty exchanges, joint research programs, and partnerships in the social sciences and humanities.

Dr. Vigneshwaran, Head of the Department of Political Science, invited the guests and organized the meeting with the Vice-Chancellor.
The French delegation was led by Dr. Delphine Thivet, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Bordeaux, France; Dr. Alexis Avdeeff, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Anthropology, University of Poitiers, France; and Dr. R. Uthaya Suriyan, Associate Researcher at the French Institute of Pondicherry. They emphasized the importance of strengthening educational ties between France and Sri Lanka.
University of Jaffna Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sivakolundu Srisatkunarajah, welcomed the initiative, stating, “This collaboration will enhance academic excellence and provide global opportunities for our students.”
The proposed MoU is expected to facilitate scholarships, research grants, and cultural exchanges. Further discussions will take place in the coming months to finalize the agreement.
