Empowering youth for conservation’ – Wildlife and Nature Conservation Programme

Empowering youth for conservation is a programme jointly organizes by Zoological Students’ Association (ZSA) of the Department of Zoology, University of Jaffna and the AHEAD ELTA ELSE faculty DP of the Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna on 6th April 2022 from 8.30 am to 4.00 pm.
Sri Lanka is gifted with unique biodiversity and identified as one of the 36 biological hot spots in the world. However, it is under threat due to both developmental activities and ecological changes. Therefore, conserving our nature through awareness programmes and youth participation will make greater impact in the future. “Empowering Youth for Conservation” is a program designed to do just that. It is a series of conservation awareness and education sessions in the universities of the northern and eastern regions of Sri Lanka. The sessions are conducted voluntarily by an eminent group of conservationists of national and international repute.
