University of Jaffna Officially Commences Duties for the New Year 2026
The University of Jaffna ceremonially commenced duties for the New Year on 1st January 2026 with a special programme held at the University premises. The event was graced by Professor Professor S. Srisatkunarajah, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, together with the Deans of Faculties, Registrar, Bursar, Heads of Departments, academic and non-academic staff members of the University.
The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag and the University Flag by the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the Public Servants’ Oath was read by the Registrar and solemnly recited by all staff members present, reaffirming their commitment to integrity, dedication, and public service.
The programme concluded with brief remarks by the Vice-Chancellor, who extended New Year greetings to the University community and emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and excellence in fulfilling the University’s academic and administrative responsibilities in the year ahead.
