Notice to Teachers, Staff, and Students

Due to the situation that has arisen as a result of the adverse weather conditions that led to disastrous proportions in the country over the past few days, it has been decided to suspend academic activities in all the universities in the country until 08.12.2025.

Accordingly, all academic activities of the University of Jaffna are also postponed until 08.12.2025.

Our university is taking suitable measures to safeguard the wellbeing and ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff who have been affected by this disaster.

As decided during the discussion held under the leadership of the Hon. Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, we wish to inform everyone that our university has also initiated disaster management activities. These activities are being carried out under the compassionate guidance of the Vice-Chancellor and in line with the instructions of the Chairman of the University Grants Commission.

Arrangements have been made to provide necessary facilities—including the provision of food—to students residing in hostels and outside accommodations. Steps have also been taken to provide Mahapola and other monthly financial assistance payments.

While requesting everyone to cooperate towards an efficient and safe disaster management process, the Vice-Chancellor has also instructed that students and staff affected by the natural disaster submit their details through their respective Deans.
