Post of Scientific Assistant Grade I / II (Temporary) – Faculty of Science

Walk-in-Interview

Walk-in-interview for the following temporary positions will be held on 25^th of July, 2024 at 9.00 am in the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna.

Scientific Assistant Grade I (Temporary)

• A First or Second Class (Upper Division) in a Special Degree Examination in the relevant subject with 03 years’ experience after obtaining such degree qualifications. *
  OR
• A Second Class (Lower Division) in a Special Degree Examination in the relevant subject with approved Postgraduate/ Professional qualifications.*

OR

Scientific Assistant Grade II (Temporary) **

• A First or Second Class (Upper Division) in a Special Degree Examination in the relevant subject.*
  or

• A Second Class (Lower Division) in a Special Degree Examination in the relevant subject.*
  or

• A pass in the BA/ BSc Special Degree Examination in the relevant subject.*
  or
• A pass in the BA/ BSc General Degree Examination with a recognized Postgraduate qualification in the relevant subject.*

* Preference will be given to those who have specialized in Computer Science/ Information Communication Technology / Information Technology / Information Systems / Software Engineering / Computer Engineering

** If suitable candidates for the post of Scientific Assistant Gr.I are available the post of post of Scientific Assistant Gr.II may not be considered

Remuneration

In addition to the above salary, statutory benefits and the UGC approved allowances will be paid

Expected Additional Attributes, Skills and Experience:

• Proficiency in PHP frameworks such as Laravel, Symfony, or CodeIgniter for developing and maintaining web applications.
• Proven experience in managing and handling mid-level information systems, ensuring their smooth operation and maintenance.
• Ability to provide technical support and troubleshooting for software issues.
• Experience with database management systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL, including designing, optimizing, and querying databases.
• A willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in the IT industry.
• Ability of scientific writing skills.
