DIGIPATHS Study: Digitally Integrated Care Pathways for Multiple-Long-Term Conditions Management in Primary Care, Sri Lanka
The University of Jaffna invites applications from qualified candidates for the following position under the DIGIPATHS Study: Digitally Integrated Care Pathways for Multiple Long-Term Conditions Management in Primary Care, Sri Lanka. This study is conducted by the Centre for Digital Epidemiology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna, in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, and is funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), UK.

Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences, Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), or a relevant field from a UGC-approved university or recognized higher education institution (HEI).
- Preference will be given to those who have previous experience in community-based health-related projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a Community Engagement and Involvement (CEI) strategy aligned with the project goals and timelines.
- Facilitate ongoing engagement with community members, stakeholders, and civil society organizations to ensure inclusive participation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Organize and coordinate community consultations, workshops, awareness programmes, and public involvement events.
- Establish and support Community Advisory Groups or similar platforms to gather regular input and feedback.
- Collaborate with the project team to integrate community insights into research design, data collection, implementation, and dissemination.
- Identify and address community concerns and expectations related to the project in a timely and sensitive manner.
- Monitor, document, and report on CEI activities, outcomes, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards and community safeguarding principles in all engagement processes.
- Serve as the key liaison between the project team and community stakeholders.
- Support capacity-building initiatives for both community members and project staff on CEI best practices.
- Contribute to the preparation of project reports, policy briefs, and knowledge dissemination materials incorporating community perspectives.
- Carry out the relevant task assigned by the Country Lead of the Project.
Remuneration:
- A monthly salary of LKR 60,000 will be paid.
- Temporary Data Collectors for Qualitative Research | Vacant – 06 posts
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences, Siddha Medicine and Surgery (BSMS), Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS), or a relevant field from a UGC-approved university or recognized higher education institution (HEI).
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in qualitative research data collection.
- Proficiency in both English and Tamil is required; proficiency in Sinhala will be considered an added advantage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, and other qualitative data collection activities as per study protocols.
- Ensure adherence to ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and maintaining participant confidentiality at all times.
- Accurately record and document qualitative data using audio recorders, field notes, or digital tools as appropriate.
- Transcribe interviews and discussions verbatim in a timely and accurate manner, translating into English if required.
- Coordinate with community stakeholders, local leaders, and participants to schedule interviews and discussions.
- Report any challenges or issues encountered in the field to the supervisor promptly.
- Participate in training sessions, debriefings, and team meetings related to data collection and fieldwork.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and transfer of collected data according to data protection guidelines.
- Contribute to maintaining respectful and culturally appropriate interactions with all participants.
- Travel to field sites as required by the research study.
Remuneration:
- A monthly salary of LKR 50,000 will be paid.
General conditions for all the above posts:
- Ability to work anywhere in Sri Lanka.
- The selected candidate will be appointed on a full-time basis for one year. The project duration is four years, and the appointment may be renewed annually based on performance and project requirements.
- Applicants must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Age should be between 25 and 45 years.
- The selected candidate will contribute to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employee Trust Fund (ETF). The employee is required to contribute 8% of their monthly salary to the EPF, while the employer will contribute 12% to the EPF and 3% to the ETF.
A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100.00 must be paid via bank deposit to the People’s Bank, Account No: 970000090000387, in favor of the Bursar, University of Jaffna. A copy of the bank slip must be attached to the application.
