VACANCIES

University of Jaffna will entertain applications from the qualified persons for the under mentioned posts.

  • Senior Professor / Professor of Anatomy/ Parasitology / Pharmacology / Community and Family Medicine / Surgery
  • Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II / Lecturer (Unconfirmed) / Lecturer (Probationary) in Biochemistry/ Community & Family Medicine/ Microbiology/ Parasitology/ Forensic Medicine/ Pathology / Psychiatry/ Paediatrics/ Medical Education/ Nuclear Medicine/Medicine

Note 1:

  • Applications for the above posts will be entertained from the candidates with MBBS degree as their first degree
  • Applications from candidates with BDS degree can also be considered for the posts in Biochemistry and priority shall be given to MBBS degree holders.
  • For the Posts of Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/ Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary), preference will be given to those who either have or are doing the postgraduate degree as given below against the subject:
    i.   Biochemistry a). MD in Medicine/Chemical Pathology

b). BDS with Ph.D/M.Phil in Biochemistry
  ii.   Community & Family Medicine a). MD in Community Medicine/Family Medicine /

Medical Administration

b). Ph.D in Public Health
iii.   Microbiology a). MD in Medical Microbiology
iv.   Parasitology a).MD in Medical Parasitology/Microbiology or Doctoral Degree in Parasitology.
   v.   Forensic Medicine a). MD in Forensic Medicine
vi.   Pathology a). MD in Haematology / MD in Histopathology
vii.   Psychiatry a). MD in Psychiatry
viii.   Paediatrics a). MD in Paediatrics
 ix.   Medical Education a). MD in Medical Education
   x.   Nuclear Medicine  a). MD in Radiology
 xi.   Medicine a). MD in Medicine -Note- Candidates should pursue their career in Toxicology and Neurosciences/Clinical Genetics

REMUNERATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

Remuneration:

Posts Salary scales
Senior Professor Rs.237,530 – 11 x 5,300 – 295,830/- p.m
Professor Rs.198,280 – 13 x 4,850 – 261,330/- p.m
Senior Lecturer Grade I Rs.160,520 – 7 x 3,900 – 187,820/- p.m.
Senior Lecturer Grade II Rs.138,980 -11 x 2,940 – 171,320/- p.m.
Lecturer (Unconfirmed) Rs.121,340 – 5 x 2,940 – 136,040/- p.m.
Lecturer (Probationary) Rs.94,400 – 10 x 2,400 – 118,400/- p.m.

In addition to the above salary,

1. The following allowances will be paid as the percentage of the basic salary:

  1. Academic allowance
    Senior Professor – 126% + Rs. 17 ,000/-
    Professor – 124% + Rs. 13,300/-
    Senior Lecturer Gr.I – 116% + Rs. 2,200/-
    Senior Lecturer Gr.II – 116% + Rs. 2,100/-
    Lecturer (Unconfirmed) – 102% + Rs. 1,800/-
    Lecturer (Probationary) – 91% + Rs. 1,200/-
  2. Research allowance – 21% (Payable to the Academic Staff based on the research activity)

2. Cost of living allowance of Rs.17,800/-p.m.

Application forms and other details will be available in the University website www.jfn.ac.lk.  Applicants are requested to send the prescribed application form downloaded from the University website with the paid Bank Slip for the deposit of a sum of Rs.100/- credited to the Peoples Bank in favour of University of Jaffna Collection Account No: 970000090000387 of Bursar, University of Jaffna.

 The candidates who apply for more than one post should submit separate application along with separate Bank slip. The post applied for should be marked on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Perfected applications and self-evaluation with supportive documents for the Post of Senior Professor/Professor shall be sent to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka as required by the University Grants Commission Circulars No. 5/2015, 5/2015(i) (for Senior Professor), University Grants Commission Circulars 916, 4/2014 and Establishments Circular No. 4/2010 (for Professor), (see http://www .jfn. ac.lk /index. php/circular/) with a covering letter.

Perfected applications for the other posts shall be sent to the Deputy Registrar/Academic Establishments, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka under registered post with the photocopies of statement of the Degrees and Service certificates. Submission of Applications will not be entertained in person.

Applicants from the University System/Government Departments /Corporations and Statutory Board should channel their applications through the Head of respective Institutions, but may send an advance copy in the first instance. However, no such applicant will be considered for interview, if the application channeled through the Head of the Department is not received.

Application and referee reports should be in the relevant format. Illegible and Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be rejected without intimation. Only short- listed applicants will be called for an interview.
