UNIVERSITY OF JAFFNA, SRI LANKA

University of Jaffna will entertain applications from the qualified persons for the undermentioned posts.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING

  • Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) in Civil Engineering/ Computer Engineering/ Electrical and Electronic Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Engineering Mathematics/ Complementary Studies

Note:

Discipline Field of Specialization
Civil Engineering Priority will be given to Structural engineering, construction management, transportation engineering and Environmental Engineering.

 
Computer Engineering Special consideration will be given to those who are holding first degree in Computer Engineering.

 
Electrical and Electronic Engineering Priority will be given to those who have specialized in Electric power.

 
Mechanical Engineering Priority will be given to those who have graduated in Mechanical Engineering with sound knowledge and skills in Machine design, Thermodynamics, Compressive Fluid mechanics, Automobile engineering, Control system Engineering and Mechatronics. However, those who have specialized in Manufacturing and process engineering, Energy system Engineering and Material science & Engineering will be considered if there will not be enough applicants from the priority list of specialization.

 
Engineering Mathematics Applicants must possess a strong background in Mathematics and Statistics, and a passion for teaching Engineering Mathematics. Candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching university-level mathematics, particularly with a focus on engineering applications, will be given special consideration.

 
Complementary Studies Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Management or Humanities & Social Sciences and a passion for teaching engineering students. Priority will be given to those with university-level teaching experience, particularly with a strong focus on engineering/industrial applications- especially proficiency in Business Law, Marketing, Management (Financial, Resource, Entrepreneurial), Economic Development, and Advanced Written English.

FACULTY OF ARTS

  • Senior Lecturer Grade I/ Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) in Linguistics/ English Literature/ Law

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Doctoral Degree in the field of Clinical Pharmacology/ Emergency Nursing/ Critical care Nursing/ Psychiatric Nursing OR a Master’s Degree in the field of Clinical Pharmacology/ Emergency Nursing/ Critical care Nursing/ Psychiatric Nursing with full time research of at least 24 months duration.

 
Pharmacy Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic qualification in BSc Honours in Pharmacy or BPharm Hons.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Doctoral Degree in Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy/ OR Master’s Degree in Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy with full time research of at least 24 months duration.
Medical Laboratory Sciences Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic qualification in BSc in MLS and preference will be given to those who either have or are doing the postgraduate degree as in the field of Haematology/Histopathology.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) in Medical Laboratory Sciences plus Doctoral Degree in the field of Haematology/ Histopathology OR a Master’s Degree in the field of Haematology/ Histopathology with full time research of at least 24 months duration.
Human Biological Sciences/ Anatomy Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic degree with specialization in Nursing/ Human Biological Sciences with the specialization in Anatomy.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Doctoral Degree in the Anatomy OR a Master’s Degree in the Anatomy with full time research of at least 24 months duration.

 
Human Biological Sciences/ Physiology Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic degree with specialization in Pharmacy/ Nursing.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Doctoral Degree in Physiology OR a Master Degree’s in Physiology with full time research of at least 24 months duration.

 
Human Biological Sciences/ Biochemistry Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic degree with specialization in MLS/ Pharmacy/ Human Biological Sciences with the specialization in Biochemistry.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Doctoral Degree in Biochemistry/ OR a Master’s Degree in Biochemistry with full time research of at least 24 months duration.

 
Sports Science Unit Lecturer (Probationary):

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed the basic qualification in BSc Hons in Physical Education OR BSc Hons in Sports Sciences and Management. Preference will be given to those with coaching licenses in Hockey, Combat games, Tennis and Swimming.

 

Senior Lecturer:

Application for the post will be entertained from those who have possessed academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary) plus Master’s Degree (02 years with a research component) in Sports Psychology and Sociology. Preference will be given to those with coaching licenses in Hockey, Combat games, Tennis and Swimming.

FACULTY OF TECHNOLOGY

  • Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II / Lecturer (Unconfirmed) / Lecturer (Probationary) in Biosystems Technology/ Engineering Technology/ Interdisciplinary Studies.

Note:

Biosystems Technology Preference will be given to those who have degrees in

  • Biosystems Technology specialized in Commercial Green Farming Technology/ Food Production Technology
  • Food Science and Technology
  • Agriculture Science specialized in Animal Science/ Biology

 
Engineering Technology Preference will be given to those who have degrees in Engineering / Engineering Technology or any other related degrees specialized in one of the following fields:

  • Automobile Technology / Mechanical Engineering
  • Electro Technology / Electrical and Electronic Engineering

 
Interdisciplinary Studies Preference will be given to those who have degrees in Bachelor of Science specialized in Mathematics or / and Statistics.

FACULTY OF SIDDHA MEDICINE

  • Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) in Noi Naadal Chikitchai/ Kuzhanthai & Mahalir Maruthuvam

Note:

Noi Naadal Chikitchai A BSMS degree from a recognized University in Sri Lanka and a Registered Ayurvedic Practitioner of the     Ayurvedic Medical Council, Sri Lanka, and priority will be given to those specialized in Puramaruthuvam.

 
Kuzhanthai & Mahalir Maruthuvam A BSMS degree from a recognized University in Sri Lanka and a Registered Ayurvedic Practitioner of the     Ayurvedic Medical Council, Sri Lanka, and priority will be given to those specialized in Mahalir Maruthuvam.

 

SIR PONNAMPALAM RAMANATHAN FACULTY OF VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTS (SPRFVPA)

  •  Senior Lecturer Grade I / Senior Lecturer Grade II/Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) in Instrumental Music.

REMUNERATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

Remuneration:

Posts Salary Scales
Senior Lecturer Grade I Rs.160,520 – 7 x 3,900 – 187,820/- p.m.
Senior Lecturer Grade II Rs.138,980 -11 x 2,940 – 171,320/- p.m.
Lecturer (Unconfirmed) Rs.121,340 – 5 x 2,940 – 136,040/- p.m.
Lecturer (Probationary) Rs.94,400 – 10 x 2,400 – 118,400/- p.m.

In addition to the above salary,

  1. The following allowances will be paid as the percentage of the basic salary:
    1. Academic allowance
      • Senior Lecturer Gr.I              – 116% + Rs. 2,200/-
      • Senior Lecturer Gr.II             – 116% + Rs. 2,100/-
      • Lecturer   (Unconfirmed)        – 102% + Rs. 1,800/-
      • Lecturer (Probationary)          – 91% + Rs. 1,200/-
    2. Research allowance – 21% (Payable to the Academic Staff based on the research activity)
  1. Cost of living allowance of Rs.17,800/-p.m.

Applicants are requested to send the prescribed application form downloaded from the University website with the paid Bank Slip for the deposit of a sum of Rs.100/- credited to the Peoples Bank in favour of University of Jaffna Collection Account No: 970000090000387 of Bursar, University of Jaffna.

The candidates who apply for more than one post should submit separate application along with separate Bank slip. The post applied for should be marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

Perfected applications for the posts shall be sent to the Deputy Registrar/Academic Establishments, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka under registered post with the photocopies of statement of the Degrees and Service certificates. Submission of Applications will not be entertained in person.

Applicants from the University System/Government Departments /Corporations and Statutory Board should channel their applications through the Head of respective Institutions, but may send an advance copy in the first instance. However, no such applicant will be considered for interview, if the application channeled through the Head of the Department is not received.

Application and referees reports should be in the relevant format. Illegible and Incomplete applications and applications received after the closing date will be rejected without intimation. Only short- listed applicants will be called for an interview.
