Laying of Foundation Stone for the Extension of Laboratory Space Department of Physics

As part of the ongoing AHEAD-DOR (Development Oriented Research) project funded by the World Bank and administered by the Ministry of Higher Education, Laboratory for Energy Conversion and Storage (LECS) at the Department of Physics is going to be extended. The foundation stone was laid by the Vice-Chancellor Professor S. Srisatkunarajah on June 09, 2022 for the construction of the two-story building for extending the laboratory space in Physics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Head of the Department of Physics, Dr. T. Pathmathas, DOR project team members, Professors K. Vignarooban (Principal Investigator), K. Velauthamurty, G. Sashikesh and other Senior Lecturers of the Department of Physics joined with the Vice-Chancellor to lay the foundation stones. All the staff and students at the Department of Physics graced the ceremony.

This DOR project is ongoing for the past 3 years and the major theme of research is the synthesis and characterization of novel electrolyte and electrode materials for batteries beyond lithium-ion, such as sodium-ion and magnesium-ion batteries.
