The World Academy of Sciences Funds Research Program in Physics

The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Trieste, Italy, funds research program on Rechargeable Batteries at the Department of Physics. It is a 1.7 million LKR grant for a 2-year research project titled “Novel Electrolytes Based on Polymer-Ceramic Nano-Composites for Sodium-Ion Secondary Batteries“. The new research laboratory for energy storage devices is recently established by Dr.Vignarooban (Head of the Dept of Physics), and within a short span of time, his team successfully secured more than 20 million LKR worth of research, instrument and travel grants from several national as well as international funding agencies such as National Science Foundation (NSF), National Research Council (NRC), TWAS, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and so on.
